Looking for a dressmaking project that feels both effortless and considered? The Hinterland Dress is a true wardrobe staple, with its relaxed silhouette, softly gathered skirt and thoughtful details that make it a joy to wear season after season.
Made in a beautiful woven cotton, this striped fabric has just the right amount of structure while staying breathable and easy to wear. The real joy comes in playing with the stripe direction - we’ve turned it on its head by cutting the bodice horizontally and the skirt vertically, creating a bold, contemporary contrast that elevates this simple silhouette into something a little more special. It’s a subtle detail, but one that makes all the difference.
The pattern features a loose, comfortable fit with side bust darts, a softly gathered skirt and in-seam pockets. This kit is designed to make the button-through version with a partial placket and 3/4 length sleeves, creating a relaxed, easy-to-wear silhouette. As a lovely bonus, the pattern also includes additional variations to explore - with three sleeve options, waist ties and the choice of a full-length button placket, giving you plenty of scope to make it your own once you’ve made your first version.
Suitable for confident beginners and experienced makers alike, this is one of those projects you’ll reach for time and time again.
Ability: Intermediate - you will learn how to sew bust darts, bias facings, inseam pockets, button plackets, and inset sleeves.

Returns
If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition. Non-returnable items include kits once they have been cut, cut lengths of fabric, ribbons or trim, samples, sale items, and ex-demonstration items.
