Sophie and Ellis are the perfect summer pairing, combining an elegant top with beautifully fitting shorts for a versatile handmade outfit you'll reach for all season long.
Sophie is a relaxed sleeveless top with a graceful boat neckline and a distinctive shoulder tie detail that adds a playful touch. The knot is created using a separate pattern piece, giving you the option to sew Sophie either with the statement shoulder tie or as a simple, timeless sleeveless top.
Designed to complement Sophie perfectly, the Ellis shorts feature a flattering mid-rise fit with a neat waistband and invisible side zip. Cleverly integrated front pockets are concealed within the centre front seam, creating a clean and modern silhouette, while back darts provide gentle shaping for a comfortable and flattering fit. The pattern has been drafted with enough ease to work beautifully in woven fabrics without stretch.
Whether sewn together as a coordinated summer set or separately to mix and match with the rest of your wardrobe, Sophie and Ellis are versatile pieces you'll enjoy wearing again and again.
Important to Know: Atelier Jupe patterns are designed to be traced before use. The pattern pieces are overlapping and printed on both sides of the sheet, so tracing is essential.
This approach allows you to preserve the original sheet, make multiple sizes, and easily adjust the fit as you go. You can use tracing paper, baking parchment, or thin wrapping paper – or we can supply you with spot and cross pattern paper to make the job even easier.
Suggested Fabrics:
For the Sophie top, choose a fabric with a fluid drape such as viscose, cotton, Tencel, linen, double gauze or polyester.
For the Ellis shorts, choose a light to medium weight woven fabric such as cotton, linen, viscose, Tencel, polyester, double gauze, denim, gabardine or jacquard.

You will also need:
- Matching thread
- Iron-on interfacing: 20cm for the top and 20cm for the shorts
- Invisible zip, 22cm (for the shorts)

Returns
If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
Returned merchandise must be in the condition sold with original packaging and any tags intact. Goods must be unused, unopened, in perfect condition and remain in a re-saleable condition. Non-returnable items include kits once they have been cut, cut lengths of fabric, ribbons or trim, samples, sale items, and ex-demonstration items.
