The Macao Jacket & Cardigan is a relaxed, versatile design with a softly structured shape and beautifully clean finish. With its loose fit and dropped shoulders, it has that effortless, modern feel while still being wonderfully comfortable to wear.
Inspired by Japanese workwear, Macao features a shaped neckline band that sits neatly against the body, adding just the right amount of structure. You can choose to make it as a jacket in woven fabrics or a cosy cardigan in knits, with the option of long sleeves or a sleeveless version for layering through the seasons. Flat-felled seams give the inside a strong, tidy finish – a lovely detail that makes this piece as satisfying to sew as it is to wear.
This is a brilliant project for confident beginners looking to build their skills, with clear construction and techniques that you’ll carry into future makes.
Size Range:
UK 4–24 (FR 32–52 / US 0–20)
Size 32 is approximately equivalent to a 14-year-old, and size 34 to a 16-year-old. Please refer to the size guide to find your best fit.
Fabric Suggestions: Jacket: denim, gabardine, canvas, jacquard, quilted fabrics, corduroy, linen or wool. Cardigan: French terry, sweatshirt fabric, fleece or sherpa.
You will also need:
- Thin fusible interfacing
- Polyester thread
- Optional: denim or extra-strong thread for topstitching
- Optional: 20 mm buttons

If you change your mind about an item or have received the incorrect item then we offer a very straightforward return policy. You may return unwanted goods up to 28 days after purchase for exchange, a store credit, or a refund.
