What are Liberty Fabrics?

Founded in 1875 by Arthur Liberty on London’s famous Regent Street, Liberty of London quickly became synonymous with luxurious textiles, particularly its now-iconic printed silks and cottons. By the 1890s, Liberty had gained a reputation across Europe as the go-to destination for avant-garde textile design, inspiring artists, makers, and fashion houses alike. That legacy continues today with themed collections like the romantic Liberty Fabrics x Bridgerton range, or festive favourites from the Liberty Fabrics Christmas Collection.

Today, the magic of Liberty lives on. Each fabric begins life in the Liberty design studio in Soho, London, where an expert team of designers carefully hand-draw or paint each print. These are then brought to life at Liberty’s dedicated printing mill in northern Italy, near Lake Como, a region with a rich heritage in textile manufacturing. Here, over 300 exquisite designs are produced each year using both traditional and advanced techniques.
