Rainbow is a playful and endlessly customisable sweatshirt – the perfect canvas for creativity. With 30 different versions to choose from (20 with pockets, 10 without), this versatile pattern can be made with or without a zip and finished with your choice of kangaroo or welt pockets.
The neckline options include a classic hood, an overlapping hood, a neckband, or a ribbed collar, allowing you to tailor the style to suit any look. Finish with ribbing for a sporty touch – or leave it off for a more relaxed feel. Rainbow is a joyful wardrobe staple with endless possibilities.
Important to Know: I AM Patterns are designed to be traced off. The different pieces overlap with each other so you will need to trace the pattern on paper. This means that you will be able to make multiple sizes of the garment and adjust the pattern as you trace it if necessary. For this you could use tracing paper, baking parchment, thin wrapping paper; or we can supply you with some spot and cross pattern paper.
Suggested Fabrics:
Garment: Jersey for sweatshirt, Interlock knit, Neoprene, French Terry
Ribbing: Ribbing by the meter or the same fabric used for the garment (this pattern is not designed for using pre-cut ribbing bands). The ribbed collar can only be sewn in ribbing.

1 open-end zipper* 23 5/8 ” (60 cm) long
Hooded versions:
1 1/4 yards (120 cm) of drawstring cord
2 eyelets (diameter depends on the drawstring width)
Scrap of non-woven and non-stretch iron-on interfacing
Welt pockets versions: iron-on interfacing: 8″ by 16″ (20 cm x 40 cm)
Kangaroo pockets versions: thin cardboard for the ironing template
*23 5/8″ is the conversion for 60 cm which is the length the original pattern is drafted for. You can take a 24″ long zipper but you will have to lengthen the front and back pieces by 3/8″. To understand how to do this, refer to the instructions in step 2 (Preparing the pattern).
