    Description

So you’ve finally got to grips with your overlocker, threading, neatening edges, maybe even making t-shirts,
but it – and you – can do so much more!
In this 3 hour workshop, you will learn how to get creative with your overlocker; using
it for decoration and finishes that are designed to be seen from the outside, not just
the inside. You will go home with a range of decorative samples as inspiration for future
    projects.

    We Will Cover

    • Rolled and lettuce hems
    • Mock bands
    • Flatlocking
    • Fagotting
    • Using decorative threads
    • Using ribbon/wool inserts

Experience: This workshop is ideal for those of you who have already attended our Get to Know
Your Overlocker workshop, and those who are comfortable using their overlocker
including threading/re-threading and basic adjustments such as tension and stitch
    width/length.

About your Teacher:  Jo gained her experience in the fashion industry as a designer/pattern cutter in ladies' outerwear. She has taught adults sewing and pattern cutting skills for over a decade: from absolute beginners sewing to bra making, simple pattern alterations to fitting masterclasses; inspiring and encouraging creativity and confidence in dressmaking and sewing projects.

Class Size: Maximum class size of 6.

Materials needed: On the day you will need to bring the following . . .

    • Your overlocker, complete with instruction booklet.
    • Tweezers - your overlocker usually comes with a selection of tools, please bring everything!
    • NOTE: your overlocker should be a 3 or 4 thread, with the ability (or to convert) to do
rolled hems. If you are not sure, then bring along what you have and we’ll find out on
      the day!

Fabric and trim remnants to creative samples will all be available on the day, but if
you have any of your own you would like to experiment with, then please bring these
    along.

    Course Duration: Half a day

Venue: The workshop is held in our modern and vibrant studio at the Clothkits shop. We are located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.
