    Description

If you have a favourite garment that is worn out and you just can't find a replacement. Perhaps you wish you could have it in different fabrics or colours - then our Copy Your Clothes workshop is for you!

In this one day workshop you will learn how to take a tracing of your garment without cutting it up or unpicking it. Jo will then show you how to make a reusable sewing pattern so you can make it over and over again in all the fabrics and colours you desire.

Please note that you will not be sewing your garment in this workshop.

    About your Teacher:

Jo gained her experience in the fashion industry as a designer/pattern cutter in ladies' outerwear. She has taught adults sewing and pattern cutting skills for over a decade, from absolute beginners sewing to bra making, simple pattern alterations to fitting masterclasses. Jo is an inspiring teacher and encourages creativity and confidence in dressmaking and sewing projects.

    Class Size:

    Maximum class size of 5.

    Skills:

Copy your Clothes is for intermediate and experienced sewists who have made a number of garments from sewing patterns. It is not suited for those very new to sewing.

    Materials needed:

    • A garment or two that you would like to copy. You will only have time to replicate one item, but do bring a choice and your tutor will advise on which is most suitable. The item should be relatively simple - nothing fitted/tailored or fully lined. Avoid fine fabrics like silk as you will be putting lots of pins into it! Garments that are too small or big and require grading may not be achievable in the time, so please don't bring anything that doesn't fit you.
    • Plain pattern paper - approx. 3m depending on garment. Paper will be provided.
    • Cardboard pattern cutting board - this will be available to buy on the day.
    • Sewing kit to include a tape measure, pins, pencils, rubber, pattern weights, pattern tracing wheel, patternmaster or set square. All of these items are available for you to use in the studio, but you're welcome to bring your own.

    Course Duration:  Full Day

Venue: The workshop is held in our modern and vibrant studio at the Clothkits shop. We are located in central Chichester, about a 10 minute walk from the train and bus station. The closest car park is The Cattle Market.
